気温が高い日が連日続くようになりましたねぇ。
夏支度は進んでますか？
日本の気候は四季折々で、それに合わせた装いを考えるのが楽しいものです。
ただ、夏の湿気が余分です。
数える程度ですが、海外の暑い国に何度か赴いていますが、
気温の割にカラッとしていて過ごしやすいなぁと感じたことを覚えています。
サマーシーズンの日本気候を考えると、適してる服装って何だろう…
きっと昔の賢人たちが出した答えは、麻だったりするんでしょうね。
ただ、リネンは洗濯だったり、堅牢度で考えると少し扱いずらい素材な気もします。
リネンを否定してるわけではないです。実際に僕自身は好きな素材の一つです。
やっぱり、王道の“綿”を選ぶのがベターなのでしょうか。
綿素材の生地で、シルエットは少しゆとりがあって、首周りも開放的なのがあれば快適なサマーシーズンを過ごせるんじゃないかって思うんです。
我らがマスタードが、そんな“あればいいなぁ”をカタチにしました。
名付けて【 BOAT Tee 】。通称、「ボーティ」と呼んで下さい。
いわゆるボートネックが特徴のバスクシャツをデザインソースにTシャツとして再構築しました。
単に半袖にしただけではなく、マスタード的な要素を加えています。
その内容をご紹介。
バスクシャツにありがちなガサつきのあるドライタッチな素材は選びませんでした。
今回は着心地と肌触りに特化した“Bueno Jersey”という生地をチョイス。
この生地は、20/2糸を限界までハイゲージで編みたて、特殊加工により独特のヌメリ・光沢感・柔らかさがある、ハイクラスな素材です。
そして、ボートネックの最大の特徴とも言える首周りの形状にも気を配りました。
単純に首周りが広いだけだとだらしなく見えてしまうので、幅や形状を何度も調整・試作を繰り返し最高のバランスへ仕上げました。
オマケの話ですが、昔のバスクシャツやフィッシャーマンなどの衣類は、前後、全く同じ形状でした。仕事柄、彼らは朝日が昇る前の暗いなかで着用するので、前後があると間違えてしまうため、どちらでも着用出来るように前後ろがないデザインだったといいます。ビンテージなどを目にすることがあれば、チェックしてみて下さい！
脱線しましたが、次は、縫製の話にいきます。
今回のような厚みのある生地を通常のロック縫製で生地と生地を縫い合わせると凹凸が生じ、特に肩周りはその凹凸がゴロつき、ストレスになります。
今回のBOAT Teeは、着心地を考慮し、アンダーウエアの縫製技術に習い、三本針で生地の縫い合わせを限りなくフラットにする製法を採用しました。
それにより凹凸が軽減され、ストレスのない着心地を実現しました。
ちょっとしたアクセントにもなっています。
当然ですが、洗い加工を施していますので洗濯による縮みも心配ありませんのでご安心ください。
今回のTシャツも自信をもってお薦めできるMASSTARDらしい一着に仕上がりました。
